Real People. Real Projects. Real Opportunities.

Why Gung Ho Programs?

Gung Ho means “working together.” Rooted in the legacy of Helen Foster Snow, Gung Ho programs connect students across cultures through real-world collaborative learning—both in-person and online.

Traditional exchange programs

…. have long been a powerful way to connect students across cultures. But they can be expensive, hard to scale, and limited to a small number of participants. Without meaningful preparation, students often miss the chance to fully engage with the people and places they encounter.

We prepare students before the plane ticket

… by making global collaboration part of everyday learning. Through mission-based projects, students work with international peers on real challenges before any travel takes place. It’s practical, scalable, and deeply personal. When students do travel, they already have shared context, relationships, and purpose.

Testimonials

What Our Students Say

“I started learning Chinese through my school’s immersion program, but now it’s something I push myself to improve. My dream is to use Chinese in service to my country, maybe in the army or NSA. Camp Gung Ho showed me how important relationships between America and China can be. In 20 years, it’ll be people like us shaping the world—and experiences like this matter.”

Kaleb R.

Austin, Texas
14 years old, 9th grade

“My family started learning Chinese after adopting my little sister from China, to help her stay connected to her culture. Camp Gung Ho let me make real friendships, hear personal stories, and experience the language in everyday life. I want to keep learning Chinese so I can connect with people—maybe even teach skiing in Chinese one day. This camp made me want to keep coming back.”

Aspyn B.

Morgan, Utah
16 years old, junior in high school

“I’ve been in a Mandarin program most of my life, but now my motivation is to connect better with my grandparents. Camp Gung Ho helped me improve my Chinese and meet amazing people from both China and the U.S. The exchange helped me understand not just the language, but the culture and the people. It’s a chance to grow in ways a classroom can’t provide.”

Callan P.

California
14 years old, 10th grade

“I chose Chinese in 2nd grade because it was different. I was nervous to visit China, but Camp Gung Ho helped me step outside my comfort zone. I adapted quickly, made lasting connections, and now dream of working in China as a forensic scientist or in foreign relations. Traveling to China made the language and culture come alive. I hope more students get this chance.”
